Little Rock 24 Hour Booking Overview
How Little Rock 24 Hour Booking Works
Little Rock sits in Pulaski County. It is the state capital and the biggest city in Arkansas. The Little Rock Police Department makes the arrest in most city cases. After the arrest, the officer drives the person to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility. The sheriff's staff then takes the booking. They type in the name, date of birth, charge, and bond. That entry is the 24 hour booking record. It shows up on the county roster, not on a Little Rock city page.
Why does the city not run its own jail? Arkansas law puts jail duty on the sheriff. Ark. Code Ann. § 12-41-502 gives the county sheriff charge of the county jail. The city pays the county a fee to hold its arrestees. That setup is the rule across the state. So when you look for a Little Rock 24 hour booking record, you are really looking at a Pulaski County jail record.
The Little Rock Police Department keeps its own arrest report for each case. That report is a separate file from the booking sheet. You can ask LRPD for the arrest report. You ask the sheriff for the booking sheet. Both are public under Arkansas FOIA, Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-101 et seq.
The lead-in photo below shows the Little Rock Police Department home page. It is the main city site for records, FOIA, and contact info.

From this page you can reach the Professional Standards Division, the FOIA unit, and the records room. The FOIA unit is run by Lt. James Sloan.
Little Rock Police Department and Arrest Records
The Little Rock Police Department is at 700 W Markham Street in the heart of downtown. The main number is (501) 371-4601. The records line is (501) 371-4620. Office hours run Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is the largest city police force in Arkansas. Each year, LRPD books many thousands of people into the county jail.
LRPD keeps the arrest report, the incident report, dispatch logs, and basic booking info for its own cases. Some of these files are closed while a case is live. The rule for open investigation holds is in Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(b). Once the case ends, most of the file opens up. Juvenile files stay closed under Ark. Code Ann. § 9-27-309.
The city has a full FOIA unit. Lt. James Sloan heads the FOIA Unit under the Professional Standards Division. You can file a FOIA in person, by mail, or online. The online form is linked below.
The photo below is the LRPD FOIA request page. It gives you a form to fill out and send right from the site.
Try the Little Rock PD FOIA request page for a quick online submit.
The form asks for the date of the incident, the name of the person, and the record you want. Keep it short but clear. Vague requests slow the response time.
Pulaski County Jail and 24 Hour Booking
The Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility holds all Little Rock arrestees after booking. The sheriff runs the full booking sheet. The jail sits in the county seat of Little Rock. For the local roster, hours, visits, and inmate phone, you want the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
You can reach the county page for all of that on the Pulaski County 24 hour booking page. That page links to the sheriff site, the jail roster, and the FOIA contact for the sheriff.
The sheriff posts a public inmate inquiry tool. It lists who is in the jail right now. You can search by last name or by booking date. The tool shows the charge, bond, and booking date. It does not always show the mugshot. For the mugshot, you may need to ask by FOIA.
Bond is set by a judge or by a bond schedule. Most people post bond within 24 to 48 hours of a booking. Those who cannot post bond stay in the jail until the next court date. First court dates for felony charges go to Pulaski County Circuit Court. Misdemeanor charges go to Little Rock District Court.
Request 24 Hour Booking Records in Little Rock
Arkansas FOIA rules let any Arkansas citizen ask for these records. Under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(a)(1)(A), the right to request is tied to state citizenship. You do not need to give a reason. You do not need to use the word FOIA. But you do need to name the record you want.
For a Little Rock 24 hour booking, you may need to hit two offices. Ask LRPD for the arrest report. Ask Pulaski County Sheriff for the booking sheet. Both offices have 3 business days to get back to you. That rule is at Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(c).
A good Little Rock FOIA request should include:
- Full name and date of birth of the person
- Date and time of the arrest or booking
- Case number or booking number if known
- Specific records wanted (arrest report, booking sheet, mugshot)
- Your name, address, and phone number
Both LRPD and the sheriff can charge up to 25 cents a page under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(d). If the total cost goes over $25, LRPD may ask for payment up front. No staff time fee can be added. That is a firm rule in the Arkansas FOIA Handbook.
Note: LRPD requires Arkansas citizenship for all FOIA requests and may ask for proof of residency at the time of the request.
Court Records After a Little Rock Booking
Once a charge is filed, the case flows out of the jail and into the court. For Little Rock, that court is in Pulaski County. Felony cases go to the Pulaski County Circuit Court. Misdemeanor cases go to Little Rock District Court.
The state court search tool covers Pulaski County. Look up any open case at Arkansas CourtConnect. Search by name. The tool shows the case style, filing date, next hearing, and judge. It does not show the bond or the mugshot. Those stay with the sheriff.
The Pulaski County Circuit Clerk keeps the full court file. You can view court files in person at the Pulaski County Courthouse in Little Rock. Copies run 25 cents per page under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(d). Certified copies cost more.
If the case ends in a conviction and a prison term, the person leaves the county jail and goes to the state prison. The Arkansas Department of Corrections inmate search tracks state prison inmates. It does not track local jail holds.
Other Agencies Tied to Little Rock Booking
A few other agencies can touch a Little Rock booking. The Arkansas State Police may be the arresting agency in some cases, like DUI stops on the interstate. The FBI or U.S. Marshals may hold a person on a federal warrant in the county jail. Some people are held on a state parole hold out of the Arkansas Division of Community Correction.
For notice when a person is moved or released, the free VINELink service tracks people in most county jails across Arkansas. VINELink sends email or phone alerts when custody changes. Pulaski County feeds its data to VINE. So do most busy counties.
The Arkansas Crime Information Center holds the central criminal history file for the state. ACIC is run by the Department of Public Safety. It does not post a live roster. It runs a $22 name based background check tool for public use.
The Arkansas Sex Offender Registry lists people who have to register under state law. The Sex Offender Registry shows photos, addresses, and prior offenses. It is not a 24 hour booking tool. But it can help tie a recent booking to an older case.
Note: If an arrest lands a person in federal custody, the U.S. Marshals Service Prisoner Locator may be the right tool rather than the Pulaski County roster.
What a Little Rock 24 Hour Booking Sheet Shows
The booking sheet for a Little Rock arrest holds the same core facts as any Arkansas booking. The fields are set by the jail management system at the Pulaski County jail. Most 24 hour booking records show the full name, the date of birth, the race, sex, height, and weight of the person. The sheet also lists the arresting agency, the booking time, the booking number, and each charge with its Arkansas Code cite.
Bond info is on the sheet too. Bond may be cash, surety, property, or own recognizance. The bond amount is set by a judge or by a bond schedule in the local court. For a misdemeanor, bond may be set by the on-call judge or by a standing order. For a felony, bond is often set at a first appearance hearing.
The mugshot is part of the booking file. The Arkansas FOIA Handbook is clear: mug shots are public records. LRPD may charge a small fee for a print. Some booking photos post right to the sheriff's inmate inquiry page. Others need a FOIA request.
A few parts of the booking file can be held back. Medical and mental health notes are closed. Social security numbers get redacted. Notes about an open investigation can be held while the case is live. Once the case is closed, most of the file opens up.
