Dallas County Sheriff and Booking Records

The Dallas County Sheriff's Office is at 106 North Main Street, Fordyce, AR 71742. Main line: (870) 352-2002. Fax: (870) 352-2033. Office hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The sheriff runs the county jail and keeps 24 hour booking records for every arrest made in Dallas County. That includes deputy arrests and city police arrests from Fordyce.

When a person is booked, jail staff log the key facts: name, date of birth, charge, bond, and the arresting agency. Basic booking info is public under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-103. The sheriff must give access to any Arkansas citizen who asks. Call first for a quick custody check.

For a written copy of a booking sheet, send a short note with the name, booking date, and records you want. The sheriff has three business days to reply under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105. Copy fees are capped at 25 cents per page. Certified copies cost a small extra fee.

Dallas County 24 Hour Booking Records Online

Dallas County is a small rural county and does not post a full online inmate roster at this time. Most 24 hour booking lookups run by phone. Call (870) 352-2002 and ask for the jail desk. Staff can tell you if a name is in custody, read off the charge, and share the bond amount.

For statewide custody tracking, use VINELink. The free service tracks people across most Arkansas jails and state prisons. It sends free alerts by email or phone when the person is released or moved. Not every small county feeds data to VINE, but most do.

Here is the VINELink search page shown below.

Dallas County 24 hour booking VINELink custody search

VINELink is run for victim and family notice. It does not post mug shots or charge details. For the full 24 hour booking sheet, call the sheriff.

Once charges are filed, the case may show up on Arkansas CourtConnect. Not every small Arkansas county is on CourtConnect yet. A name search there will still pull data from any county that takes part.

Fordyce Police Department Arrests

The Fordyce Police Department is the main city force in Dallas County. Non emergency line: (870) 352-5121. Officers book arrests into the county jail. So a Fordyce PD arrest shows up on the same 24 hour booking log as a sheriff arrest. Ask Fordyce PD for the arrest report. Ask the sheriff for the booking sheet.

The arrest report has narrative. It is the officer's write up of what happened and what led to the arrest. The booking sheet has data fields only. Both can be open under Arkansas FOIA. Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105(b) may shield parts of a report while a case is still under investigation. Basic booking facts stay open.

Deputies handle patrol in rural Dallas County and small towns outside of Fordyce. They all book into the same county jail. One call to the sheriff covers every booking in the county.

Note: Fordyce PD and Dallas County Sheriff both serve Fordyce, but the jail itself is run by the sheriff. Booking sheets live with the sheriff.

Request Dallas County Booking Records

Arkansas FOIA is set out in Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-101 et seq. It lets any Arkansas citizen ask for booking records. The Arkansas FOIA Handbook from the state Attorney General has sample letters and the full rules. You do not need to say the word FOIA. You do not need to give a reason.

The Handbook is plain: a citizen need only make a verbal or written request for access to public records. Send the sheriff the name of the person, the date of the booking, and what file you want. A booking sheet, mug shot, charge list, and bond sheet are all open under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-103.

The sheriff has three business days to reply under Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-105. Copy fees run 25 cents per page. The sheriff cannot charge for staff time. Certified copies cost more. If the total goes over $25, the sheriff may ask for payment up front.

The Attorney General FOIA page runs a hotline at (501) 682-2007. If the sheriff denies a request you think should be open, Ark. Code Ann. § 25-19-107 lets you sue in circuit court. The court can make the agency pay your fees if you win.

What a Dallas County Booking Sheet Holds

A Dallas County booking sheet has the same core fields as any Arkansas jail. Main fields:

  • Full name and date of birth
  • Booking number and date and time
  • Sex, race, height, and weight
  • Address of record and arresting agency
  • Charges with Arkansas Code cites
  • Bond type and amount
  • Mug shot in most cases

Mug shots are public under Arkansas FOIA. The FOIA Handbook says so plain: mug shots are public records. A written request may be needed for a print. Ask the sheriff when you call.

Juvenile records are closed under Ark. Code Ann. § 9-27-309. A juvenile booking does not appear on a public roster. The jail will not confirm custody of a juvenile to a stranger. A parent or legal guardian can get that info. Medical and mental health screens in the booking file are also closed. Social security numbers get redacted.

Dallas County Court Records After Booking

Dallas County Circuit Court handles felony cases. District court takes traffic, misdemeanor, and small civil claims. The Circuit Clerk holds the full file for each case. Clerk files include the charging document, the bond order, motions, and the final judgment.

For recent cases, try Arkansas CourtConnect first. A name search is free and fast. For older or paper only files, go to the Circuit Clerk in Fordyce. Copy fees at the clerk's office run 25 cents per page under the same FOIA rule.

District court in Fordyce handles first appearance on most bookings. That is where bond is set. The judge looks at the charge, the record, and the facts of the arrest. Bond types include cash, surety, property, and own recognizance.
